Matt specializes in tenant representation including financial and market analysis and long-term strategic planning. He has particular expertise in addressing the real estate needs of associations, not for profit organizations and law firms. He is the co-head of WLS’ Law Firm Practice Group and has worked extensively in the downtown Washington, DC office market.


Matt recently completed a strategic plan and consequent transaction on behalf of the American Councils for International Education (American Councils), a 30-year-old association focused on academic exchange, professional training, distance learning, curriculum and test development, delivery of technical assistance, research, evaluation, and institution building. American Councils leased approximately 38,000 square feet in a newly converted LEED-EB building in the heart of Washington’s Central Business District. Prior to joining WLS in 2004, Matt gained valuable experience at Equis Corporation, a national corporate real estate company specializing in the exclusive representation of business space users and tenants.


Matt concentrates on providing creative real estate solutions to associations, not for profit organizations and law firms in the Washington, D.C. area.


Matt is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C. He is a former board member of the Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Association of Greater Washington (CREBA), and has been awarded membership into its Multi-Million Dollar Leasing Club. In 2011, Matt was awarded Top Producer at WLS. Matt is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and has successfully completed the LEED Accredited Professional Exam. LEED Accredited Professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System. He holds the prestigious Specialist, Industrial and Office Real Estate (SIOR) designation awarded by the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. This professional designation is held by less than 3 percent of all commercial real estate professionals in the United States. Matt is a board member of Hope Connections for Cancer Support. Matt holds his real estate license in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
