Washington Business Journal Ranks WLS as one of 2022’s
“Best Places to Work”
The results of the 2022 Washington Business Journal Best Places to Work survey are in, and here at West, Lane and Schlager Realty Advisors (WLS) we are incredibly proud to be ranked as a top employer in the Greater Washington area.
Best Places to Work recognizes companies based on employee engagement surveys where the workplace is scored across topics like collaboration, HR practices, compensation, management, and office culture. WLS joins 75 other employers in the area as an honoree for the award, which is designed to highlight workplace best practices and facilitate top employers sharing their strategy for creating exceptional working spaces.
Creating an office culture that works
At WLS, we strive to create an office culture that reflects how we interact with our clients, by leaning into an ethos of collaboration, partnership, and a hands-on approach to doing business. As Matt Levin, WLS Principal, puts it:
“Our approach has always been based on the idea of everyone working together, leveraging each other’s strengths and expertise. Unlike most brokerage firms where you have a siloed approach with different brokers and teams working on their own projects, we have broken down those walls and have people collaborating rather than competing with one another. I think this culture of openness and mutual respect that has kept so many people with us for 10 or even 20 years.”
A strategic approach to workplace improvement
Workplace Strategy, and helping clients to define their own, is also a key part of WLS’s broader value offering. Over the years we’ve worked to entrench the same core principles we recommend to clients into our own workplace culture. That includes making sure we have the right technology and tools on hand to empower employees, and creating a vibrant, engaging workplace.
Leadership through uncertainty
Over the past few years, these principles have been put to the test, as WLS has adapted to the new normal of hybrid workplaces and has aimed to strike the right balance between flexibility and maintaining a strong workplace culture. Being recognized as one of D.C.s Best Places to Work really brings home everything we’ve managed to accomplish in that regard during a really challenging time.
WLS Co-founder & Principal, Eric West, believes it’s the strong sense of teamwork throughout the company that has made success possible in trying times, saying:
“Since the company’s beginning, creating a culture of teamwork and collaboration remains of paramount importance and continues into our 26th year. These values form the golden thread that unites us all as the organization. Committed to the success of each of our employees, we encourage everyone to reach their maximum potential. We would be nothing without the hard work, innovation, and enthusiasm of our employees; we know our future success depends on the contributions of each and every team member.”
The awards program will be held on May 12, 2022 at the Hilton McLean, Tyson’s Corner.
